

This is the house's old foundation and you can see the rollers on the i-beams that the house moved along. They used a mini-loader to pull the house with a chain along these i-beams and would occasionally whack a roller with a mallet to keep it going the right direction. We could listen for the 'clanks' to know when they were moving the house. They actually put the house up on three sets of wheels to move it forward (after it passed the orange house) and then put it back on i-beams to get it over it's foundation. Even though I am a structural engineer's daughter this is the first time (I remember) seeing this kind of construction process. I bet cousin T wishes he were here to see all the work going on around here. Maybe I'll have more pictures to show you later as they continue the work.
